“Every once in a while God brings someone into your life who is extra special. Someone who you know you will learn from - no matter if he’s forty years younger than you. Austin Mann is mastering the balance between obsessive “attention to detail” and an uncanny sensitivity to those around him. He has a better eye than I do. He understands post-production like very few. But he cares for people and the Gospel and that’s his underlying motivation. Any time spent with Austin is worth the investment!”

If you are called to this work, or would like to explore it I can think of no better way to experience it first hand. Their care, concern and compassion are evident in their words and work. - Paul T.

Light the World

Light the World is an intensive week long photographic workshop designed and taught by Austin Mann & Esther Havens. Together, they've been able to work closely with over 60 non-profits, their imagery being used as key components in raising millions of dollars in funding for various organizations worldwide.

Travel with them as they share the things they've learned to help enable you to connect, serve and use photography as a tool to impact the world in one of the most important ways possible: changing human lives.

Project Ethiopia 2011

In September 2011, Esther Havens & Austin Mann will be leading a hand selected team of eight photographers into Ethiopia on a mission to learn to use photography for organizations to make a difference in the world.

Students will have hands-on experience working together with Esther & Austin and each other to conceptualize and capture various stories that will be used to raise awareness and funds for a project in Ethiopia. The primary objective for this workshop is to learn to connect beyond our cameras and portfolios by collaborating with each other creating a story that will affect a community.

We will also explore the famous buried churches of Lalibela on donkey, see and photograph the ancient Fasilides Castle in Gondar and experience culture in many ways like a traditional Ethiopian coffee ceremony.

Who is this project for?

This specific Light the World project is geared for photographers with intermediate to advanced experience. We're looking for people that have a heart to use their talents and equipment for a purpose.  If you have a heart to serve those in need and you're a photographer by profession or a serious hobbyist, this project may have your name on it.
